Flooding in Bosnia Herzegovina is almost a recurring phenomenon. In May 2019 our colleague Job Udo was in Bosnia for the inception workshop related to the EU project “Implementation of a Flood Early Warning System (FEWS) for the Bosna river”. Job visited Bosnia earlier in a DRR mission as a response to the devastating floods in May 2014.
In the beginning of 2019 the EU commissioned our consortium (with lead partner Eptisa, the Water Institute in Bijeljina and HKV) to develop FEWS Bosna. We expect it to be operational towards the end of next year, enabling the Bosnian authorities to react more effectively to flood threats and floods as are happening now.
